ICE Honours, say what?! 

Fréderique legt je graag uit wat we doen.. en heb je nadien nog zin? Lees hieronder dan hoe je zelf een ICE Honours-student kan worden!

ICE Honours, what's in it for me?

Met ICE Honours behoor je tot een community van gemotiveerde studenten, docenten en professionals. Je ontmoet mensen met een andere kijk,  even gedreven als jij. Jullie werken samen aan duurzame en innovatieve oplossingen voor complexe, maar real-life uitdagingen. Je kiest vanuit je passie welke vraagstukken je inspireren. Je leert jezelf en je ambities kennen in relatie tot anderen, je groeit in persoonlijk leiderschap en je bouwt je professionele netwerk uit. Met een coach van ICE Cube en eentje uit het werkveld wordt je persoonlijk traject vormgegeven. 

Je  zet je eerste stappen op de arbeidsmarkt met een plus op je diploma. Je wordt een zelfbewuste professional met de nodige real-life ervaring op je teller. De uitdagingen die je binnen ICE Honours opnam, de extra inspanningen die je deed, de engagementen die je aanging geven je een streep voor op de arbeidsmarkt - check de filmpjes van onze alumni die het programma al volgden! Via ons netwerk brengen we je in contact met de werkgever van je dromen. Wil je nog verder studeren? Dan heb jij je vervolgtraject duidelijk in beeld: een bijkomende bacheloropleiding in binnen- of buitenland? Een  master aan de universiteit? Je bent er klaar voor. 

ICE Honours gaat niet over credits verdienen. Die haal jij in je gewone traject. Jij wil nog meer. Tijdens je Honours traject stel je een portfolio samen waarmee je een externe jury overtuigt van je groei, van de impact en meerwaarde die je creëerde en hoe je je onderscheiden hebt. In ruil daarvoor krijg je een ICE Honours Degree; een aanbevelingsbrief van het management van de hogeschool, een digitale badge op je Linkedin profiel en je ICE Honours-portfolio.
 

Zes pijlers

1 ICE | Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship

“Ik heb het nog nooit gedaan, dus ik denk wel dat ik het kan” (Pippi Langkous). Deze quote is je op het lijf geschreven. Je bent gewapend om uitdagingen, die je nog niet kent aan te gaan. Je verwacht het onverwachte en bent flexibel en wendbaar. Je zoekt nieuwe, verrassende ideeën en oplossingen voor complexe vraagstukken. Je kijkt daarbij over muren en grenzen en zoekt verbinding, ook waar dat niet evident is. Je denkt kritisch na over je eigen ideeën, analyseert hun bruikbaarheid en zet ze om in acties en producten. Je hebt daarbij het lef om te experimenteren en je durft te falen. Een eerste resultaat is voor jou niet noodzakelijk het beste. Je vraagt je af of er niet meer in zit.

2 Persoonlijk leiderschap

Je bent zelfbewust en wil het verschil maken. Je kunt je kwaliteiten en groeikansen goed inschatten, je weet perfect wat jou motiveert en fascineert, wat jou zin geeft. Je bent en blijft meester van je eigen leertraject. Je weet waar je staat en welke je doelen zijn. Je gaat aan de slag met je competenties en je gaat een steile leercurve niet uit de weg.  Je bouwt je eigen netwerk uit dat je voedt, inspireert en helpt bij je persoonlijke ontwikkeling.  

3 Interdisciplinair samenwerken

In een Honours-traject werken studenten en professionals samen om complexe vraagstukken interdisciplinair aan te pakken. Ze doen dat op basis van gelijkwaardigheid en met respect voor mekaars ideeën en manier van werken. In zo’n team voel jij je als een vis in het water. Je behoudt je professionele identiteit, je brengt je eigen ideeën in, maar je bent ook nieuwsgierig naar wat de anderen te vertellen hebben en naar andere manieren van werken. Je wil je blik verruimen en leren van anderen.  Je schrikt er niet voor terug om je eigen overtuigingen in vraag te stellen en je discipline, je sector, je (toekomstige) beroepsrol en zelfs je regio (en land) te verlaten. 

4 Impact 

ICE Honours werkt met authentieke en strategische vraagstukken van echte opdrachtgevers. Ze zijn complex en de oplossing ligt niet voor de hand. Alleen kom je er niet uit, maar je werk loont. Jouw inbreng en jouw resultaten worden gebruikt in de praktijk. Je hebt impact en maakt een positief verschil in de wereld. Dat verschil is misschien klein, maar dat ontmoedigt je niet: “Value can be in small changes”. 

5 Waarde(n)vol handelen

Je wil iets bereiken dat je eigen individuele welzijn overstijgt. Je hebt een sterk moreel kompas dat je doen en laten bepaalt. Je durft vragen stellen over maatschappelijke problemen, structuren en systemen. Je wil je talent inzetten om iets te betekenen in de wereld, dichtbij of ver weg.

6 Eco Wijsheid

We nemen duurzaamheid als de basis van future-proof ondernemerschap. Het Honours traject triggert je om na te denken over de draagkracht van de aarde en hoe jij daar zorg voor kunt dragen. Je wordt je meer bewust van de eco-afdruk van verschillende opties. Je ontmoet andere eco warrior ondernemers, en bouwt zo verder aan je netwerk. Je ontwikkelt de kennis en de vaardigheid om in alles wat je doet het ecologische perspectief mee te nemen.
 

Programma

Let's go!

Honours Launch: opstartweek voor de start van het academiejaar op verplaatsing : We dagen je uit, en laten je er meteen induiken. Je gaat een challenge aan die door een bedrijf wordt voorgesteld- real life dus. Je leert de ICE honours community kennen en je ondervindt wat het traject voor jou kan betekenen. Je beleeft de magie van de wereld ‘buiten je comfortzone’.

Het traject

Met je coach stel je een programma samen met duidelijke milestones door het jaar heen, gebaseerd op jouw interesses, waar je staat, en waar je naar toe wil. We hebben 3 focusgebieden; ondernemerschap, persoonlijke groei en community.
 

Sprints

We ontmoeten elkaar elke week in één van de ICE areas van Thomas More, of op een andere hippe locatie. De sprints gaan door op woensdagavond van 18.30 tot 21.30 uur. We rekenen erop dat je op de sprints aanwezig bent. Je werkt in je projectgroep, stelt vragen aan coaches, je wisselt uit wat je geleerd hebt, en er is ruimte voor pittige discussies.

Iedere maand is er een speciale sprint, waarbij we een activiteit doen, een inspirerende spreker uitnodigen, of waar je zelf met voorstellen komt om het maximale te halen uit de tijd samen.  Iedere maand heb je duidelijke milestones, en maak je een vlog/blog over jouw groeitraject. Feedback krijgen, en vieren dat je weer een stap verder bent gekomen- ook dat hoort bij ondernemerschap.

Je kiest een coach die jou ook individueel gaat begeleiden. Je bepaalt zelf hoe en wanneer je samenwerkt.

Wakostda?

Deelnemen is zo goed als gratis. Uitzonderlijk vragen we je een kleine bijdrage, bijvoorbeeld voor je maaltijd. Is dit een probleem, dan zoeken we samen een oplossing.

We geven je concrete voorbeelden van Honours projecten zodat je weet wat je kunt verwachten. We vragen je om een motivatiebrief te schrijven, een eerste stap om heel helder jouw ‘why’ te omschrijven.

More Micro Forests

Wou jij altijd al dat beetje meer groen in je schoolomgeving?  Wij ook! Het is om deze reden dat enkele van onze ICE Honours studenten in 2021 de handen in elkaar hebben geslagen om een Micro Forest te planten op een Thomas More campus. ICE Honours, what’s in it for me?

With ICE Honours, you belong to a community of motivated students, lecturers and professionals. You will meet people with a different view who are just as driven as you are. You will work together on sustainable and innovative solutions to complex but real-life challenges. You choose the issues that inspire you based on your passion. You get to know yourself and your ambitions in relation to others, you develop your personal leadership and you expand your professional network. With a coach from ICEcube and a coach from the professional field, your personal journey will be shaped. 
You take your first steps in the labour market with a plus on your diploma. You become a self-confident professional with the necessary real-life experience on your record. The challenges you took up within ICE Honours, the extra efforts you made, the commitments you made, all give you a big advantage on the labour market - just look at the videos of our alumni, who participated in the programme before. Through our network, we connect you to the employer of your dreams. Do you prefer to continue studying? Then you have a clear view of your future: an additional bachelor's programme at home or abroad? A master's degree at the university? You are all set for it. 
ICE Honours is not about earning credits. You can easily earn those credits in your regular study programme. But you want more. During your Honours trajectory, you compile a portfolio that convinces an external jury of your personal development, of the impact and added value you have created and how you have distinguished yourself. In return you will earn an ICE Honours Degree; a letter of recommendation from the management of Thomas More; a digital badge on your Linkedin profile and your ICE Honours portfolio. 

Six pillars

1. ICE | Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship

"I have never tried that before, so I think I should definitely be able to do that" (Pippi Longstocking). This quote is written for you. You are equipped to tackle challenges that are unfamiliar to you. You expect the unexpected, you are flexible and agile. You look for new, surprising ideas and solutions to complex problems. You see beyond walls and borders and seek to connect, even when that is less obvious. You think critically about your own ideas, analyse their usefulness and transform them into actions and products. You have the guts to experiment and you dare to fail. A first result is not necessarily the best for you. You ask yourself whether there is not more to it.

2. Personal leadership

You are self-confident and want to make a difference. You are good at assessing your qualities and opportunities for growth; you know perfectly what motivates and fascinates you, what gives you meaning. You are and remain master of your own learning path. You know where you stand and what your goals are. You work on your skills and do not shy away from a steep learning curve.  You build your own network that nurtures, inspires and helps you in your personal development.  

3. Interdisciplinary collaboration

In an Honours programme, students and professionals work together to tackle complex issues in an interdisciplinary manner. They do so on the basis of equality and with respect for each other's ideas and way of working. In such a team you will feel like a fish in the water. You retain your professional identity, you contribute your own ideas, but you are also curious about what others have to say and about other ways of working. You want to broaden your view and learn from others.  You are not afraid to question your own convictions and to leave your discipline, your sector, your (future) professional role and even your region (and country).

4. Impact creation

ICE Honours works with authentic and strategic challenges from real clients. They are complex and the solution is not obvious. You won't get there on your own, but your work pays off. Your input and your results are used in practice. You create an impact and make a positive difference in the world. That difference may be small, but that does not discourage you: "Value can be in small changes".

5. Value-driven action

You want to achieve something that transcends your own individual well-being. You have a strong moral compass that determines your actions. You dare to question social problems, structures and systems. You want to use your talent to make a difference in the world, nearby or far away.
 

6. Eco Wisdom

We take sustainability as the basis for future-proof entrepreneurship. The Honours programme triggers you to think about the capacity of the earth and how you can take care of it. You become more aware of the eco-print of different options. You meet other entrepreneurial eco-warriors, and build your network. You develop the knowledge and skills to include the ecological perspective in everything you do.

Programme

Let's go!

Honours Launch: start-up week before the start of the academic year on location (12-14 November 2021): We challenge you, and let you deep-dive. You take on a challenge presented by a company - in other words, real life. You get to know the ICE honours community and find out what the programme can do for you. You experience the magic of the world 'outside your comfort zone.'

The trajectory

With your coach, you will put together a programme with clear milestones throughout the year, based on your personal interests, where you stand, and where you want to go. We have three focus areas: entrepreneurship, personal growth and community. 
 

Sprints

We meet every week in one of the ICE areas of Thomas More, or at another hip location. The sprints take place on Wednesday evenings from 18:30 to 21:30. We really count on your presence at the sprints. You work in your project group, ask questions to coaches, share what you've learned, and have lively discussions. 
Every month, there is a special sprint, where we do an activity, invite an inspiring speaker, or you may come up with your own suggestions to get the most out of the time together.  Every month, you have clear milestones, and you make a vlog/blog about your growth trajectory. Getting feedback, and celebrating your progress - that is also part of entrepreneurship.
You choose a coach who will personally guide you. You decide how and when you work together with your coach.
 

How much does it cost?

Participating is virtually free. Exceptionally, we ask for a small contribution, for example for your meal. If this is a problem, we will find a solution together.

We will give you actual examples of Honours projects so that you know what to expect. We ask you to write a motivation letter, a first step to clearly describe your 'why'.
