Within the Interreg project ACE, we link needs with technological solutions for the home care of the future in the North Sea region. On 24 and 25 January, the ACE partners met in Leuven for a state-of-the-art meeting.

End 2023, the ACE partners identified the main challenges in home care of the future during 9 workshops in Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. A total of 193 participants from different stakeholder groups participated. At the partner meeting in Leuven, we brought together all these insights and linked the challenges to new technologies and processes that could be applicable to home care systems in the North Sea Region (NSR) by 2030.

Some of the challenges identified include digital literacy, social wellbeing, coordination and communication, accessibility, affordability, positive view of older adults and nurturing their values, adequate housing solutions, engaging family and community, and stakeholder engagement.

ACE partners discussed upcoming showcases, where home care solutions will be presented to older people and service providers. The main goal of these showcases is to inform the target groups about possible future solutions.

In the project, the partners will also test around 30 innovations in the real-life environment of home care providers so that they can gain more insight into the actual application of technological innovations.
