What

The WAI-NOT platform caters to the digital needs of children and young people with a moderate to severe intellectual disability. The site offers a safe, accessible and monitored environment with news reports, informative articles, educational content, opportunities for social interaction (via e.g. mail and chat function) and games. WAI-NOT is in this way a springboard to or alternative for the worldwide web.

Goal

On 01/10/2022 there were 1428 active registered members on WAI-NOT, of which 841 pupils. The potential of this target group, namely pupils from 7 years old in the BuBaO type 2 and BuSO OV1-type 2, amounts to about 7 500 pupils. There are therefore many pupils and supervisors who do not yet make use of all the possibilities of WAI-NOT.

The platform WAI-NOT wants to increase the number of active members to +/-2500 registered pupils, so that full digital inclusion can be spoken of. The registered users must get optimal possibilities to communicate online, communicate news, … There is a need for a clear positioning of WAI-NOT in general and per level of end users and which tools are important for them. WAI-NOT must be visually attractive and accessible on different types of devices.

Our Role

Mobilab & Care conducts user research in function of the redesign of the WAI-NOT website and formulates recommendations for the redesign.
