At Thomas More, we offer a range of inspiring English-taught bachelor degree programmes and postgraduate programmes.

On top of that, we have created other possibilities to support Ukrainian student refugees academically. That way, we’ll be able to work out the best solution for you to study within a programme of your choice.

Nice to know! Ukrainian refugee students who have the special temporary protection status in Belgium or who are in the process of obtaining this status will be considered as EEA members. Therefore, you will fall in the regular EEA tuition fee category instead of the increased category. You will also most likely be eligible for a scholarship of the government which may result in another reduction of the tuition fee.

There is no such transfer system in place at Thomas More. Ukrainian applicants interested in transferring must apply as a new student via the regular application procedure.
Upon admission, students will need to consult with the study counsellor of your programme to request any exemptions for certain courses within your study programme at Thomas More. This process is study programme specific. To get information regarding exemption regulations, contact the study counsellor of your programme which can be found on the programme page on our website.

Ukrainian students:
We do admit Ukrainian students into our exchange programmes (English or Dutch) depending on the possibilities within the study programme. Normally, international students can only participate in an exchange programme if their home institution has signed an exchange agreement with Thomas More. We have several exchange agreements with Ukrainian partner universities, but even if your institution is not on the list, we are happy to find a solution. Please keep in mind that it is not possible to obtain a scholarship for this exchange.

Russian students:
We are willing to receive incoming students from our Russian partner institutions. Please mind that it will be more difficult to arrive here. More and more airlines have ceased their flights to and from Russia. Many countries have closed their airspace to Russian airlines. On top of this the visa issuing might be restricted.

Ukrainian nationals or persons with a permanent residence in Ukraine will be granted temporary protection status in Belgium. Upon arrival, you’ll first need to register in Brussels. (Tip: Don’t forget the mention the city you will study in.) Once it is proven that you fulfil the temporary protection requirements, you may register with the municipality where you will receive an A-card valid for 1 year. With this card, you will be granted the right to work and study in Belgium.
