The Teacher Training Physical Education Exchange Programme at campus Geel is part of the STAR-Track Programme
No bar too high, no challenge too great
- You want to coach children and teenagers and make them move.
- You are very interested in a job as an physical education teacher.
- In this programme you will discover the rules of pedagogy and didactics.
- You will also learn how to teach teenagers and young adults.
- You won't miss exercise. Every week you do about nine hours of sports.
- You will give a boost to your indoor, outdoor & event or individual sporting talents.
- You will explore both primary and secondary education.

Overview
Join our STAR-Track exchange semester. STAR, Specialist Track for Ambitious Rookies, is a challenging exchange semester for students who want to achieve More. The unique educational concept focuses on interdisciplinary and intercultural learning to enhance students’ entrepreneurial skills and mindset and to develop them into globally aware citizens and future-proof professionals. STAR-Track unites international students from different disciplines (technology, business, sports, social work and orthopedics) and offers them high-impact learning based on real life challenges in an international context. The courses run from mid-September until the end of December, exam period will be organized in January. The STAR-Track semester consists of a total of 30 ECTS: 15 ECTS professional skills combined with 15 ECTS future-proof skills of your students’ choice.

Below you can find an overview of the courses ( under reservation of changes), with the number of credits per phase. Credits express how many hours you need on average to process the subject matter (incl. lessons). Count about 25 to 30 hours for 1 study credit.

Professional skills
Coaching

- Compulsory course
- 5 ECTS
- Life is a team sport – it is impossible to get ahead without taking others along. Performing optimally, both professionally and personally, implies constant interaction with others. Communication and collaboration are therefore essential. This is where coaching skills can make the difference, for you and the people around you, be it colleagues, employees, students, family, friends... No matter the context, coaching is about your desire to truly understand others and to encourage their own growth.
- To support you in this endeavour this course will give you the opportunity to acquire the basic coaching skills, including how to structure a coaching session. You will then apply these basics with a focus on personal values and talents, talent development and shared leadership.
Sports Management & Communication
- Code Z14439
- 3 ECTS
- Communication skills for business and professional purposes are practiced.
Practice enterprise sports management with focus on Active and Healthy Lifestyle
- Code Z15864
- 12 ECTS
- Important: A mandatory intake interview takes place in order to assess whether the student meets the requirements regarding subject matter and experience with project work. Based on this interview the student will be accepted or not.
- The students bring (in group) a complex and relevant issue linked to the professional practice to a successful end. They work on this independently during project days with minimal support from a coach.

Exam regulations
The courses run from mid-September until the end of December, exam period will be organized during the semester and at the end of December.

STAR-track is a multi-disciplinary exchange semester in English. Team up with students with a different cultural and study background. A STAR semester consists of a total of 30 ECTS which combines 15 ECTS professional skills in your field of expertise with 15 ECTS future proof skills of your choice.
