As an architect of digital products, you have an impact on many aspects of society. You can create added value by making life and work easier, richer or more efficient. After your studies you will end up in all areas of society and industry.

Your training program consists of three pillars: designer skills, maker skills and entrepreneurial skills. You will also develop your own profile within the study program - personal profiling - and thus put more emphasis on design or technology, for example. We guide you intensively through this search, as of day one. During three years you will have opportunities to discover your talents, in a creative and inspiring environment. Particularly interesting are the challenges and the e-portfolio work, where you’ll apply all your skills and knowledge in an integrated way.

Your training program consists of three pillars: designer skills, maker skills and entrepreneurial skills. Think of courses such as design thinking, interaction technology, internet of Things, Smart Technology, programming, multimedia, User EXperience, collaborative learning, web-tech, front-end, back-end, business, interaction, visual communication, storytelling, animation principles, smart networks, pitching strategies, portfolio design, frameworks, video 360, 3D, AI.

    Coming from abroad?

    • Students enrolled in the Information Management and Multimedia: International Digital Product Architect programme will have the option to take their first semester courses remotely, with virtual support from lecturers. 
    • It will also be possible to take the January exams fully online
    • If you choose to start the first semester remotely, you can still join us in Belgium later in the semester (in November or December, for example). You will need to be in Belgium for in person courses by the start of the second semester in February at the latest.
  • The programme

    IDPA is a full 3-year international professional bachelor programme. Real digital products are the central focus and starting point in each semester. During the programme you will make 6 digital products, 1 each semester. These products are the realization of a real-life or virtual case. The following cases are imposed:

    1. Building Interfaces
    2. Building Smart Solutions
    3. Building ready-to-market applications
    4. Building profitable business models
    5. Building innovative products
    6. Sell your products

  • The product

    A Product is the result of a case within one semester of work. We will describe the requirements, but you create and design your personalized result. To get you started, we will provide 3 projects, that will contain all key competences you will need to successfully design and build your solution.

  • The project

    Each project is structured in the same way. We start with a bootcamp which are workshops, given by highly qualified experts. They will formulate the challenge (assignment), that you must create, design and present. The experts and your coaches will be there to guide you and provide feedback. At the end of this teaching spiral, you will be evaluated, you stop, or you play on!

  • The semester

    Taking all elements, a semester has a fixed layout:

    1. An introduction week in which the case is introduced. From then on you can start designing/developing your case product.
    2. Three project cycles in order to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for the design and / or development of our case product. containing bootcamps, challenges, feedback and Play/Stop Sessions.
    3. Should you get stopped after a project, don’t worry, you can retake it in week 14.
    4. Finalizing the product, presenting and defending in order to get your grades.

  • 1. building an interface

    The first semester we will introduce you to the concept of interfaces. The Product that you will make is a real working interface. The three projects that we will use to get you up to speed are:

    1. Building a static webpage with logo and brand book
      This project main goal is to introduce the basic concepts of the technology to build web pages and to give you basic skills in design principles.
    2. Building a prototype
      In order to build interfaces for a specific user, one must build prototypes. Knowing the basic aspects of users and how to organize a concept of an interface in a prototype is the major focus of this project.
    3. Translating prototype to live website
      A prototype is not a finished product. In order to translate a prototype to a working digital product one must be able of putting logic into the design and make it work. Programming is the only word in this phase. After programming and making it work one must test if everything is working according to wishes of the users.

    During the different projects you will get enough information in order to apply these knowledge and skills to build your own interface.

  • 2. building smart solutions

    In the second semester we will enlarge the scope of digital products from interfaces to full scale solutions. The focus here is to get familiar with the typical design cycles applicable in the field of digital products.

    The different steps that we take to get there are:

    1. Exploring the context of digital applications
      In order to build a fully digital solution one must understand the context in which the solution is taking place. The user needs, business landscape. During this phase we will also introduce how to cooperate because in many cases one must collaborate with others to come to a result.
    2. Building 4 data gathering
      Data handling in general is a key component of digital solutions. We will introduce these concepts by using smart technology (Arduino + sensors) to gather real live data. In this way we will create a smart solution.
    3. Presenting ME 0.1
      The design cycle ends with a pitching of the solution. All aspects of presenting and pitching will be introduced here, including the design itself of presentations and sharing information.

    • Bootcamp

      A bootcamp is an intensive period where students work around a central topic. The theoretical items of the topic are envisioned and practically embodied.

    • Challenge

      You accept the challenge and go for it! Make it happen. A challenge incorporates all the building blocks handled in the bootcamp, and more.

    • E-portfolio

      Build up a personal e-portfolio. This is a way to prove your competences, to be visible to the outside world for employment, professional skills and your social network.

    • Feedback

      Learn to give and accept feedback. Make relevant conclusions and cope with your conclusions to learn for future events.
