LOWERING BARRIERS FOR MINORITY GROUPS IN RETAIL
Thomas More presents the third edition of its summer school's trilogy at Campus Geel on the topic 'Lowering barriers for minority groups in retail'. This year's focus will be on visual impaired and blind people. You will take on the challenge of our key partners Colruyt and Local Service for Equal Opportunities of Geel, visit different cities across Belgium and experience the Flemish culture. This summer school is open to students and professionals from all over the world and of any kind of discipline. This will turn our Summer school into a multidisciplinary and intercultural challenge.
Our summer school welcomes every student that wants to take a chance and grow into a more global, multicultural, communicative, creative, innovative, resilient, futureproof, employable young professional with an additional focus on sustainable development of solutions that will change the society for the better.
This course makes way to strengthen a substantial number of long life skills such as project-based work with a special focus on innovation and creativity, process-based work on intercultural awareness, multidisciplinary team work, the entrepreneurial attitude and the opportunity to team up in English.
Moreover, also teachers and partners are given the opportunity to connect and discuss sustainable cooperations on future internships and study exchanges.
The fields of study involved in organising this summer school at Thomas More are:
- Business school (Business Management | Organisation and Management)
- Social Work
- Applied Computer Science & Electronics-ICT

THE CITY OF GEEL
Three colourful façades and 18 miniature portraits of Geel merchants in the centre of Geel bring more experience.
Art in the street scene
Anyone walking or cycling through the centre of Geel cannot ignore it: Art is omnipresent. From a bronze statue that illustrates the mercy of Geel in all its simplicity, to a beautiful mural, every art lover will find something that makes them think.
Geocaching in Geel
In Geel, 2 multicaches have been developed. During "Expedition Geel", you are guided to mysterious places in the centre. In "The Battle of Geel" you learn more about one of the fiercest and bloodiest battles on Belgian soil.
Let yourself be guided by the copper signposts and get to know the great diversity that Geel has to offer: from old historic buildings, along cosy shopping streets and mysterious paths to oases of rest right in the centre of the city.
From Brussels Airport - Zaventem take IC train number 2629 in the direction of Antwerp-Central. Get off at Antwerp-Berchem station. In Antwerpen-Berchem take IC train number 4309 direction Hamont and get off in Geel station.
In Geel, on platform 6, take bus 15b towards Thomas More. You get off at the stop: 'Geel Weg Naar Thomas More'. From here it is about an 800-metre walk to the campus.
